So the New Year has started and I feel so excited for the coming year! It's taken me a while but I'm finally feeling happy about the future!
For a long time I've felt that my life was a bit stagnant, nothing was moving forward and everything was the same old thing for a few years now. My only motivation back then was to be able to provide for my daughter as a single mother, and now that I've accomplished and sustained that (and still continue to do so), I want to experience more in life than just the dread that accompanies pay day, that of which are bills. I'm all for paying my dues, but I want to pay them with more fulfilment and experiences in my life!
So I've thought back on how things have been and on how I want them to be. I no longer want to live vicariously through other people, all the celebs we see and influencers all over social media. I want to be out there living life! So after a long time of thinking of what I can realistically achieve, I've set my goals and feeling positive that I will tick every one off!
So How exactly am I going to smash these goals?!
Well from the failure of last year to stick to my goals I realised that I didn't actually have a plan of action to help me get there. My main goal was to save up to take Jodie to Lapland for Christmas. I didn't even manage to save half of what I needed cause I had the mind set of "I've got all year to save, it'll be fine!". No it was not fine. Soon enough, the summer holidays came up and I was spending money on days out, before I knew it I had Christmas to start on and what I had saved for the trip... ended up going on Christmas. So it's back at square one.
Lapland 2.0 is now in motion. This time I've actually taken the time to map out how I will (hopefully) save up and take Jodie on this trip in December.
As you know I've started a Bullet Journal to keep track of many things and of course one of those is for my savings for this trip. This way I can hold myself accountable to make sure I'm reaching my targets. I've written out in every month what goal I hope to achieve by the end of that particular month.
I'm hoping this will help you in some way of achieving your goals this year. Nothing is ever out of reach and you can reach for what ever it is you want! I now believe all that it takes is breaking the goal down into realistic steps to achieve it.
I understand not everyone will have the patience for a Bullet journal and it's quite a commitment but there are a few other ways you can try and keep track on your goals. Of course there are the conventional diaries you can pick up in most stationary shops or supermarkets. If you're more of a digital planner, there's obviously the calendar on your phone or laptop. But there are also apps and websites you can help plan your events or keep track on things.
I currently use a website called Trello. It's a brilliant platform where you make a "Board" dedicated to either an event or a project. Within these boards you have cards that you use to keep track on details of what ever it is you plan. For example you can keep track of a wedding, what you need to do, what been done and what needs to be paid!
I will leave a link here that will give you more of a walk through of what Trello actually is and how you can use it for your projects or even business!
So far, despite only being in the fourth day of the New Year, I'm on track with what I've wanted to achieve thus far! This in itself is a motivational boost and keeps me in the positive state of mind to keep going! You can achieve a lot in a day when you put your mind to it. Imagine what you can achieve when you put your mind into your dreams!
