Over the past weekend I celebrated my Birthday in a low-key fashion! Instead of opting for a Night Out as I have done over the past few years, I opted for a Day out!
I have no regrets!
The weather was stunning all day, which was a relief as usually the April showers make an appearance and dampen the mood slightly. But yesterday you could have mistaken it as Summer, it was gorgeous!
So what was it that I spent my day doing? If you follow me on Instagram or facebook then you might already know, but I spent my day at the Zoo! And I loved it! I went with Jodie and a couple of friends with their kids and we had such a laugh! We saw the Penguins waddling around, a few chimps doing their thing and watched the seals swim and give us a little show! Although I think the best part for the kids was playing in the park, taking turns on the slides and zooming on the zip wires, and yes I joined in! It was such a perfect day where I could be just as care free as the kids and just enjoy my time to be present with them.
It also helped me cross my first activity off my Bucket list! Yesterday I hit the milestone age where I feel I haven't heard much of. You've got your obvious 1-10 years, then its 16 followed by 18 and 21, but there's not a milestone age until you hit 30. But what about 29? The last year you'll serve in your 20's?! So it got me thinking on the past decade. How far I've come in the past 10 years, the trials and tribulations, the highs and the lows and how it's shaped me. My 20's have been mostly devoted to raising Jodie as I was 20 when I had her. Raising her has been my foundation of growth and she is and always will be the why and drive in my life. I've strived to get to where I am now because I want to provide her with the best that I can! She's at the age now though where she doesn't need to be looked after like a toddler, she's quite independent and knows what she likes and doesn't. With her at the age she is now it's made me think that maybe I can finally do a few things that I've wanted to do for a while that I've held back on. Also I want to say that I've done things in my 20's and that I've lived outside of the 4 wall that is my home.
So over the past couple of weeks I've been thinking back on what I've wanted to do and I created a Bucket List of the 30 things I want to do before I turn 30! Some are simple, others are quite out there, but I've made it realistic (hopefully) as I only have a year to complete this!
So here it is! If you want to keep track of my progress and how much I cross off over the next year, I'd love and appreciate if you'd follow me on Facebook and Instagram!
1 down, 29 to go!
